This osprey let me get quite close before he decided to wander off.
I took today’s favorite shot in July on the North Jetty (Fort Canby State Park, Washington State), on the mouth of the Columbia River. It’s an amazing place, and being able to walk out on the jetty surrounded by river and sea is a wonderful experience.
The river mouth is an awe-inspiring place; it’s beautiful and very dangerous. I found it a very humbling reminder of how small humans are and how much the little humans can affect the environment around us. No matter how much humans manipulate nature, we are still an integral part of the natural world.
